Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter          See our Preview of it Here

Buy Heart of Winter today! Being released Feb 20th

The expansion takes you to the northernmost town of Lonelywood, one of the Ten Towns in the region. Native barbarians have been organizing hordes of warriors to sweep across the region razing each of the Ten Towns in their wake. A mysterious traveler enlists the aid of your party to help stop what he believes is a grave mistake. For the sheen of gold, or the principle of justice, it is up to you to stop the storm of conflict. And of course, there's much more to it than that too!

  • 800x600 resolution support (which works on the original game as well)
  • Drop away interfaces to play in full screen
  • Improved OpenGL 3D support!
  • Gem bags and scroll cases to assist with all those, well, gems and scrolls!
  • Nearly 60 new spells for wizards, clerics, and druids (probably more considering what these designers try to slip past me)
  • More than 80 new magic items, even refinements to items in the original game
  • A higher experience point cap, tentatively set at 2,900,000 allowing for mega-high level characters.
  • Hotkey for showing items on the ground and doorways, which is nice for looting those mounds of dead corpses littering the floor

Wizards & Warriors

Ironworks Rating: 9.4

You are awakened in the night by a panicked town elder by the name of G'arreth. He implores you to gather a party to seek out the Mavin Sword and put an end to all evil in the land. Your adventure is about to begin.

In an enchanted medieval realm known as the Gael Serran, an evil Pharaoh has overcome a curse and returned to a world unable to defend itself against him. Only the legendary Mavin Sword--a blade forged of twin metals, one cursed by evil, the other blessed by the divine--has the strength to bring his defeat.

With the assistance of Kerah, an angel, and Erathsmedor, a dragon, you must engage on a dangerous quest to uncover the legend of the Sword and bring an end to all evil in the land.

Pool of Radiance - Ruins of Myth Drannor

Something bad - very bad - is causing the original Pool of Radiance underneath the city of New Phlan to re-activate and exude a wave of power that makes anything that it touches undead. The player characters soon get swept up by the mystery and find themselves on the quest to find out what is behind resurgence and put a stop to it.... This leads them to explore the source of the problem, the ruined Elven city of Myth Drannor... one of the most dangerous (and mysterious) places in the Forgotten Realms.

Icewind Dale

Icewind Dale, set in the Advanced Dungeons and Dragon's Forgotten Realms, is a party-based dungeon crawl in the the popular Icewind Dale region created by famous author R. A. Salvatore. The game uses an enhanced version of BioWare's Infinity engine, which was used to power Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment. Icewind Dale offers six major areas with approximately fifty dungeon levels, an excellent story, multiple plot lines, sixteen different classes, improved multiplayer support, seventy monster-types, new interface, optional 3D graphics support to show off flashy spell effects, lighting and fogging. Expect sixty to eighty hours of game play from Icewind Dale.

While you can travel to the various cities in Icewind Dale, including the well-established city of Easthaven and the newly created outpost of Kuldahar, most of your adventuring will take place in deep, dark dungeons. Expect to find adventure in a variety of different locations, such as a lizard men lair, elven ruins, and an ancient dwarfish settlement just to name a few. Overall there will be 11 regions with approximately 10 areas apiece, so about 100-120 different levels in the game. That is about 40-60 hours of game play to finish the entire game for the average gamer.

As one of five distinct character types, players will explore the world of Diablo II, journey across distant lands, fight new villains, discover new treasures and uncover ancient mysteries.
